Acid Nitric
Nitric acid 60% produced by the Corporation for Mining Chemical Industry -Vinacomin with technology and equipment from Federal Republic of Germany.
Chemical formula: HNO3
This is a toxic and corrosive acid that is flammable. Nitric acid is colorless and, if it is left on, a yellowish color due to the accumulation of nitrogen oxides. A solution of 60% Nitric Acid has a low smoke relative to 86% higher than a new nitric acid called fuming nitric acid. Fuming nitric acid is characterized by white fuming nitric acid and red fuming nitric acid , depending on the amount of nitrogen dioxide present.

Decomposes upon high temperature or light
4HNO3 → 2H2O + 4NO2 + O2 (72 °C)
60% nitric acid when distills will create a azeotrope (azeotropic solution) with content of 68% HNO 3 and boils at 120.5 ° C at 1atm pressure.
In solution HNO 3 exists two hydrates : monohydrate (HNO 3 .H 2 O) and trihydrate (HNO 3 .3H 2 O).
Nitrogen oxide (NOx) is easily soluble in nitric acid, the NO amount affects more or less the physical characteristics, which has a great influence on the vapor pressure on the liquid (saturated vapor pressure) and boiling temperature as well as the color of the solution.
Nitric acid is a strong monoacid, a powerful oxidizing agent that can nitrate many inorganic and organic compounds.
As a typical acid, nitric acid reacts with alkalis , basic oxides and carbonates to form salts , the most important is the ammonium nitrate salt . Due to its oxidizing properties, nitric acid does not release hydrogen when reacting with metals but produces salts that generally have a higher oxidation state (with some exceptions such as dilution ...). For this reason, rapid corrosion can occur and adequate protection is required by the use of corrosion resistant metals or alloys in the presence of this acid.
As a strong oxidizing agent, nitric acid reacts violently with many organic substances and the reaction can be explosive. Depending on the temperature and agent involved, the final product can be of several varieties. Reacts with all metals except the precious metal series and some alloys. In the majority of cases, the main oxidation reactions produce nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ).
When diluted, acidic properties are dominant and produce nitrous oxide (NO). Because nitric acid is an oxidizing agent, hydrogen (H) is rarely produced. If metals react with cold dilute and nitric acid (close to 0 ° C), hydrogen is released.
Packaging
Nitric acid 60% is packed in specialized cans, containers with volume: 30liter, 200 liter, 500lit, 1000liter, 2000 liter or tank truck ... depending on demand.
Utility
Used in industries:
Used in explosives industry: production of ammonium nitrate, sodium nitrate, calcium nitrate of industrial explosives materials, production of explosives including nitroglycerin , trinitrotoluene ( TNT ) and cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine ( RDX ), ammonite explosives of all kinds .. .
Use in the fertilizer industry: ammonium nitrate single-leaf protein , CAN, LA, NPK ...
Military use: manufacturing propellants, rocket fuel, producing powerful explosives ......
Also used in water treatment industry, construction industry, as cleaning products, metal surface treatment, reaction catalysts, selective reaction agents - reaction aid in industrialization. organic synthetic substance, used in metallurgy, ion exchange resin regeneration chemicals, pH adjustment, used as reagents for laboratories ..
Recommended Use
Nitric acid is an strong oxidizer, react strongly of with compounds such as cyanides , carbides and metal powder that can cause explosions . Reactions of nitric acid with many inorganic compounds such as turpentine are intense and spontaneous .
Condense nitric acid burns the skin, causing human skin color to turn yellow due to the reaction with the protein keratin . This yellow stain will turn orange when neutralized..
Special remark on fire and explosion: Can react vigorously with metals to form flammable hydrogen gas in the air.
When diluting, follow the principle of adding acid to water, do not reverse.
When there is a technology problem in use, contact MICCO's technical department for the best support.
Safety
Risk of fire
Flammability rating: Not considered flammable.
As a strong oxidizer, when the reaction occurs, heat can cause ignition with flammable substances. May react with metals producing potentially explosive H 2 gas when combined with air.
Product created when burned: Can react vigorously with metals to form hydrogen gas combined with air to form a flammable, explosive mixture.
Fire and explosion causes: Reacts with metals to create hydrogen gas combined with air to form explosive mixtures.
Firefighting
Suitable extinguishing agents and instructions for extinguishing and other combined measures:
Use any means of fire fighting. Can use water
Required protective equipment and equipment for fire fighting: In case of fire, wear NIOSH protective clothing, full face mask with standard pressure. Water can be sprayed to cool the tank.
Handling
Nitric acid 60% is dangerous. The safe handling method may vary, depending on the user's situation. Users need to carefully read the technical and safety aspects of nitric acid prior to implementation. The user should carefully read the attached technical documentation and MSDS.
Preservation
Store in sealed containers.
Store in a dry, cool, separate and well-ventilated place, away from where it could cause fire.
